| 1 And Pharisees and Sadducees approached him to test him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 But he responded by saying to them: “When evening arrives, you say, ‘It will be calm, for the sky is red,’ 3 and in the morning, ‘Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and gloomy.’ So then, you know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you are unable to know the signs of the times? 4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign. And a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And leaving them behind, he went away. |
| 38 Then certain ones from the scribes and the Pharisees responded to him, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” 39 And answering, he said to them: “An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign. But a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. |
| 11 And the Pharisees went out and began to contend with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, testing him. 12 And sighing deeply in spirit, he said: “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, if only a sign will be given to this generation!” 13 And sending them away, he climbed into the boat again, and he went away across the sea. |
